Pipe Reduction Method
Typically the pipe reduction method temporarily reduces the diameter of the HDPE pipe by up to 12%. Insertion rates can range up to 30m a minute depending on operational conditions. Simple brush and/or wire pigs are normally sufficient to clean pipes of scale, and debris inside the host pipe
Polycan’s process uses HDPE pipe which has a slightly larger outside diameter than the inside diameter of the pipe being lined. During the installation process, the HDPE pipe is pulled through the pipe reduction method to temporarily reduce its outside diameter. The reduction allows the HDPE to be easily pulled through the host pipe by a winching method.
When the pulling force has been released, the HDPE pipe begins to revert to its original diameter. As the HDPE continues to relax, it presses tightly against the inside of the host pipe, eliminating the annular space.
Key Features
Polycan’s Installation process is a method that has successfully been used worldwide to rehabilitate many kilometers of pipeline ranging from 2” to 24”.
The petrochemical field operates to stringent engineering standards, and require all systems used to be of long life, cost effective, high quality and safe. Polycan’s pipe reduction method easily meets all these requirements.
Polycan’s method of pipeline rehabilitation can be used for gas, water, slurry, sewer, mining and oilfield lines. It is not only cost effective the ease of the operation makes Polycan’s pipe reduction method, the optimal choice for end users.
